Platform

One platform, from first drawing to council.

PlanApprove connects the architect, the estate, the quantity surveyor and the municipality around a single project record — with digitally assisted checks at every step.

01Architects & engineers

The seven-step submission.

Create a project, choose the type of work — a new dwelling, additions, alterations, an outbuilding, a boundary wall or a pool — and PlanApprove walks you through it.

01

Property & people

Erf, address, zoning, owner and the estate, if there is one. These details flow into every form and every check.

02

Documents

Drop in the drawings, title deed, zoning certificate and SG diagram — PDF, DWG, DXF, JPG or PNG.

03

Reading

Lauren reads each document: the drawings sheet by sheet, and the property details from the deed and zoning certificate.

04

Findings

The plan is checked against SANS 10400, the municipal by-laws and zoning scheme, and the estate’s own rules.

05

Forms

The statutory forms are filled in from what was read. You check the key figures; nothing is guessed.

06

Estate

In a security estate, the plans go to the estate first. Its committee reviews them and the approved set comes back stamped.

07

Council

The stamped plans go to the municipality, and the application is tracked through to approval.

Keep your practice documents — registrations, insurance, standard details — in My Practice and attach them to any project in one click. Sign in or create an account.

02Estates & HOAs

Estate plan review, online.

Architects and owners submit plans to the estate through PlanApprove. Lauren checks them against the estate’s rules first, so the committee can decide faster.

01

Submit

Architects and owners submit online, follow progress and download the stamped set. Committees can also upload plans that arrive on paper or by email.

02

Review

Committee members sign in, see the findings against the estate’s rules and record their decision.

03

Stamp

Approved drawings are stamped and issued with an approval certificate, ready for council.

Approval by the estate is not approval by the municipality — the stamped plans still go to council. Estate portal

03Quantity surveyors

A drafted bill of quantities, priced by you.

Projects architects share with you arrive with a draft bill of quantities from Bill, set out by trade. You review it, price it and sign it off.

Bill can be activated if required.

Rate library

Your rates, reused

Rates you enter on a bill are kept in your own library and used to price the next one.

Rule

Never invented

Bill drafts quantities only. Every rate comes from your library or from you.

Your projects

Not only shared ones

Upload your own projects as well as those architects share with you.

04Drawings

Larry marks up the drawings.

Where a finding needs a change on the drawings, Larry redlines it and proposes the correction — only where the required value is clear, and always for the architect to accept.

05The rules behind the checks

SANS 10400, by-laws, zoning schemes and estate rules.

Checks run against the National Building Regulations (SANS 10400), the municipality’s own by-laws and zoning scheme, and — inside an estate — the estate’s rules. The library is built municipality by municipality and keeps growing.
